The challenge
In March 2002, Philips Design was commissioned by Philips Consumer Electronics to investigate the requirements and options necessary to transform the current Product Launch Guide into a digital format. The ultimate goal of the DPLG is to ensure harmonization across the Business Creation Units through the utilization of common design templates. The Product Launch Guide is a hard copy representation of the entire product catalog.
 
The solution
First I conducted a thorough Analysis Phase to explore the most suitable medium for the DPLG taking into consideration Business and User requirements with a special focus on the ease of creating multiple DPLGs across the different Philips Business Creation Units. It was decided that HTML would form the basis and a comprehensive Concept Phase and Finalization Phase was undertaken to arrive at the desired solution.
 
The result
The result was a complete turn-key solution that included a demo DPLG for reference, content guidelines, detailed creation instructions and HTML templates that can be utilized across all Philips Business Creation Units.
